What is the Employee Assistance Program?
A confidential counseling program provided by your employer to assist employees and eligible family members in identifying and resolving personal concerns. Your employer has contracted with Employee Assistance Professionals of South Florida, Inc. to provide a set number of counseling sessions with licensed professionals conveniently located in your community.

How can the employee assistance program help me and my family?
We are all human and sometimes it means we have problems. Usually we can handle them as they occur. There may be times, however, when these problems reach the level of impairing health and a general sense of wellbeing. When this occurs, help is available through your Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Problems that we can help you with include but are not limited to: Marital, Family, Children, Alcohol/Drugs abuse, Stress, Emotional, Grief,  Depression,  Domestic Abuse, Divorce, Parenting,  Legal, Financial, or other personal issues that may affect your family’s quality of life.

How much will it cost me?
There is no cost to you for using your employee assistance benefits. Your employer pays the cost for you to have these benefits, if and when you choose to use them.

Does my employer know who uses the EAP benefits?
No. Employees may think that since their employer pays for their EAP benefits the employer is entitled to know who uses their EAP. EAP providers must follow strict confidentiality guidelines. People who use their confidential EAP benefits are protected by both federal and state laws. This information cannot be legally disclosed unless you sign a written release of information document.

Who is eligible for EAP benefits?
Employees and their immediate family members are eligible. This usually encompasses spouse, children 18 years of age and under who live with their parents, unless in college. However, your employer may have another arrangement. The intake specialist at Employee Assistance Professionals of South Florida, Inc. will explain who is eligible under your company’s plan.

Who provides the counseling services?
Only trained, state licensed professionals with master or doctorate degrees in social work, mental health, and family, marriage therapy and certified addictions professionals, whose offices are located conveniently throughout your community. You can choose a location near your work or home.
